THE Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, has presented assorted drugs worth GH¢76,000 to the Kwatire Health Centre in the Sunyani West District.
The North Carolina Cancer Coalition based in the United States of America (USA) donated the drugs through the Peace and Love Clinic (Breast Cancer International) based in Kumasi.
The Kwatire Health Centre serves Odumase, Adentia and Kwatire and their surrounding villages.
Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony at Kwatire, Mr Nyamekye-Marfo said the donation of the medicines was his contributions towards quality health care delivery to the people of the area.
Mr Nyamekye-Marfo, who is a native of Kwatire, said the gesture was a way of giving back to the community where he was born and bred.
He gave the assurance that the government was committed to the improvement of healthcare delivery in the country and had, therefore, embarked on massive expansion of health infrastructure in the country.
Mr Nyamekye-Marfo said the government’s pledge of instituting a one-time premium under the National Health Insurance Scheme was possible and would be implemented latest by next year.
He called on residents in the region to continue to rally behind the government to ensure the success of its “Better Ghana” agenda.
The Sunyani West District Director of Health Services, Ms Eva Aryee, expressed gratitude to the regional minister for the gesture and pledged that the drugs would be used for the intended purpose.
