WE'LL MAKE KOTOKO LIKE REAL MADRID (GRAPHIC SPORTS, PAGE 11, OCT 15, 2010)

The Board and Management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club (FC) are poised to build the club to be at par with others in Europe such as Manchester in the English Premiership and Real Madrid in the Spanish top flight among others.
Consequently, the board and management of the club have begun the process with the construction of a housing scheme for the playing body and technical handlers of the club to be christened
The project christened: “Kotoko Team Village” also includes a clinic to provide quality healthcare for the playing body their families and supporters of the club.
To the club has acquired a five-acre land in Kumasi for the construction of the team’s village. 
Mr George Amponsa-Duodu, the Supporters Co-ordinator of the Club and a management member disclosed this at the launching of a fund dubbed “Apem Be Ba” in Sunyani , the Brong Ahafo Regional capital on the eve of the club’s mid-week encounter with Berekum Arsenals at the Berekum Golden City Park.
He said proceeds from the fund would be used for the project comprising of a two-bedroom house each for the players and bungalows for the technical handlers of the team as well as a clinic to give maximum medical attention to the players and their families.
Mr. Amponsa-Duodu added that with time the clinic would be extended to other regions in the country to enable supporters of the club and their families to also enjoy the benefits of the fund.
He said all supporters of the club within the country have been encouraged to at least contribute a minimum of GH¢2 annually, while the management was also soliciting for funds from corporate bodies to build the fuAnd.
The Supporters Co-ordinator of the club added that parts of proceeds from the fund would also be used to pay the winning and the goal bonuses of the club at the long-run so as to lift some of the financial burdens on the board and management.
He said other programmes would also be rolled out under the fund for the benefit of the teeming supporters of the club and all those who contribute to the fund would have their names published at every quarter in the Kotoko Express, the official newspaper of the club.
Mr. Amponsa-Duodu therefore urged all members of the various circles of the club nationwide to contribute towards the fund as part of their efforts to support the management to bring into fruition the vision they have for the club to build it into the status comparable to clubs like Chelsea in England, Real Madrid in Spain and any other team internationally.
He said it was the vision of the Dr. K.K. Sarpong led management team to build Kotoko to recapture its past glory which made the team to be adjudged as the best club of the centruy and also a force to reckon with as one of the best international clubs worldwide.   
The Kotoko Management Member further disclosed that it was the desire of management at the long run to turn the fund into a savings and loans bank to enable the entire rank and file of the club to benefit.
