KORANG IS NOT GWCL STAFF (PAGE 34, MIRROR, FEB 13, 2010)

From Samuel Duodu, Sunyani.

The Sunyani Office of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has denied claims that Solomon Korang, being wanted over the death of his wife, is a member of staff of the company.
Reacting to last week’s story in The Mirror, Mr Wilberforce Osei, the Assistant Human Resource Officer, said Korang had been engaged on contract to dig trenches for the company’s new service team to lay pipes.
He explained that the Sunyani Office of the GWCL had in place a new service connection team and any time someone requested for a new service, it was given to the team to work on it, adding that Korang was one of the people who used to come around to dig trenches on a contract basis for the team to lay the pipes.
Mr Osei gave the assurance that the Sunyani Office of the GWCL office was always open for any clarification for the avoidance of any embarrassing situation.
It is recalled that Korang was alleged to have struck his wife in the abdomen following a misunderstanding, resulting in her death.
